The Beginning of Destiny (運命の始まり, Unmei no Hajimari) is the first chapter of the Arcana Famiglia -La storia della Arcana Famiglia- manga series.

Plot[]

During Mondo's birthday party, Felicità daydreams about the time when she tripped and fell as a child. Luca, her attendant, worried over her, and Sumire, her mother, scolded him for always helping her up. She encouraged Felicità to get up with her own strength, telling her that one day, she will be in charge of her own life and decisions.

Felicità is brought back to reality by Luca, who thinks she must be tired after patrolling all day. Libertà and Nova are also there, bickering, and Debito and Pace arrive soon. They are disappointed to see Felicità in her suit instead of a dress, but Debito admits that the suit is very form-fitting already.

Just then, Dante declares the start of the event. For the sake of new recruits in the Family, he briefly explains the divisions of Arcana Famiglia and introduces Felicità, Mondo's daughter, as the new head of the Swords. Mondo, the boss of the Family, steps forward to announce that he plans to retire. To decide his successor, he announces the Arcana Duello; the winner will also earn Felicità's hand in marriage. Mondo lists everyone who have Major Arcana as required to take part in the Duello, including Felicità herself.

Shocked, Felicità refuses to obey her father in front of the crowd. Mondo stands his ground and mocks her, because it was her own decision to join the Arcana Famiglia. If she wants freedom, she should win against him here and now. Felicità attacks Mondo, but he counterattacks with his lightning powers, throwing her to the ground. She is quickly surrounded by the others, who argue that Mondo has gone too far. Sumire says that Felicità should just win the Duello herself. After all, anyone with an Arcana is allowed to participate.

Afterwards, Felicità's wounds are tended to by Luca as they sit in the garden by the fountain. Luca reminisces about the past, Mondo's relationship with the family, and protecting Felicità from the world. Debito, Pace, Libertà, Nova, Dante, and Jolly all join them, throwing support in Felicità's direction. As the other guys leave, only Luca, Debito, and Pace remain behind with Felicità. They cheer her up and discuss their own thoughts on joining the Duello. But even if they were to be enemies in the Duello, they promise to stay by her side.
